Development of ComGIS based on MapX

The definition of GIS and the basic principles of ComGIS were explained;the similarities and differences between ComGIS development and the traditional GIS development were analyzed;the characteristics of MapX were introduced;the functions of layers control,coordinate transformation, attribute retrieval,distance measurement and thematic mapping,and etc.were implemented based on VB and MapX;the characteristics of GIS development based on MapX were extracted;and MapX which was suitable for the construction of lightweight GIS system was concluded.
