Focusing on the phenomenon of individual straying away from a team constantly,a new team straying prevention system based on wireless sensor networks is designed. The system can monitor and provide a search mechanism for any missing individuals in the team without employing infrastructure network.A mechanism is proposed, which determines whether there exists a coordinator in a specified circumstance.Accordingly, the lifetime of coordinator is reduced and the robustness of the system is enhanced. The operational scheme is detailed. The performance of the system is tested in different environments. And the experimental results indicate that the proposed system is stable and practical in the open air.
