The implementation process of TCP in data transmission and the problems that may be encountered in wireless network are presented. The fast retransmission technology of wireless link layer as an effective method to improve the degraded network performance in the wireless network has been proposed, and the effect of link layer fast retransmission on wireless TCP data transmission is studied. In this paper, simulation results show that link layer fast retransmission can effectively improve TCP performance over wireless networks, and it further improves the throughput and bandwidth utilization.
