Wireless sensor nodes design based on Wi-Fi module

Hongxia Bie · IEEE Software · 2013

The wireless sensor network consists of a large number of wireless sensor nodes with the ability of sensing and communicating. The communication capability of wireless sensor is of great importance to the performance of the network. Existing wireless sensor communications equipment is widely adopted low-power, low-rate ZigBee devices, which are able to meet the demand of most applications. However, when there is a large amount of data, ZigBee devices with low data transmission rate will hinder the performance of the whole wireless sensor network. In order to improve the data transmission capability of the network, the paper introduces the transplant and load methods of low-power Wi-Fi wireless module with SPI interface which running in Linux embedded operating system. In the paper, a set of protocol of traffic control is designed to solve the problem of lacking in this ability on SPI interface. Then a wireless sensor network is successfully built and Ad hoc network is being tested.
