The Function of References in Scientific Papers and the Problems in Citation

References are very important in scientific papers. They have many functions, for example, reflecting the continuity of science development, providing scientific evidences, shortening paper's length, making the paper brief and well structured. The function and recording principles of references in scientific papers are set forth in this article. The improper and wrong citations of references found in scientific journals are pointed out.
