Using Orientation Wavelet Fractal Subtree Quantization for Image Coding

In this paper, we introduce the idea about Orientation Wavelet Subtree Quantization for the first time. In this coding method, we treat the horizontal, vertical and diagonal scaling factors of quadtrees independently according to the statistic analysis of test image orientation property, and we get a result in a market improvement in accuracy with respect to quantization for image compression. The coding results of this hybrid coding scheme outperform the conventional fractal coders and the Davis' SQS method.
