Real-time processing of GPS data using MATLAB

Tao Zhang · Donghai Marine Science · 2004

In the geophysical survey at sea, the computer is used to receiver GPS (Global Position System) data, take real-time data processing, inspect the GPS data quality, and to make error-correction of GPS data as the precondition of improving the quality of geophysical survey data. On the basis of MATLAB software, we can receive GPS data through serial port, delete error anchor point and fit the line with smoothing spline. The outcome graph is plotted at each processing steps, so as to control the processing quality and ensure outcome credibility. The real-time processing of GPS data can give the ship's heading and velocity accurately, and the result can be used to make other correction betimes and credibly, such as the Etvs correction for gravity survey at sea.
