A Model-Based Congestion Control Mechanism for Real-Time Streams

Yuxing Peng · Computer Engineering and Science · 2004

With the increase of real-time streams in the Internet, the TCP congestion control mechanism, which is based on the AIMD algorithm, cannot efficiently solve congestion problems resulting from real-time streams. In this paper, we present a model-based congestion control mechanism for real-time streams. Simulation results show that our mechanism not only can track the varying bandwidth well and adjust the sending rate smoothly, but also is TCP-friendly.
