Anti-atherosclerosis Mechanism and Study Progress of Probucol

Early pharmacological and clinical trials found that Probucol had many effects such as lowing blood fat,anti-oxidation and anti-inflammatory,but because it can also decrease high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),its clinical application were limited.Recent researches have proved that Probucol does not reduce its role of cholesterol ester transfer,or even increase its transit capacity.It can stabilize and regress atherosclerotic plaque,improve vascular endothelia function and reduce the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis.This article reviews probucol about its anti-atherosclerosis mechanism.
