A TWO-PASS FORTRAN COMPILER
Shukang Zhou · Chinese Journal of Computers · 1982
This paper presents a two-pass FORTRAN compiler scheme. The first pass scans the user's source language, checks the syntax, and draws up various tables. The second pass produces object modules, which are like a group of machine-code instructions. Then, the linking-loader produces executable programs. This scheme has optimized expressions and loops, but the emphasis is on fast compilation. In this paper a attempt has been made to demonstrate the implementation of a compiler. This system affords the user some debugging measures and elementary conversational facilities. The syntax -checking is made as comprehensive as possible.
