The Realization of 3-D Facial Animation Based on MPEG-4
Wen Gao · Acta Simulata Systematica Sinica · 2001
The technique of three-dimensional human facial animation can be applied in a wide of fields such as virtual reality, virtual presenter, virtual meeting, education, medical treatment researches, movie effects, games and so on. First, the theory of facial animation in MPEG-4 is introduced in this paper. Then the algorithm defined in MPEG-4 to calculate the displacements of vertices with a FAP (Facial animation parameter) value and the FaceDefTables is discussed and improved. At last, a method of constructing FaceDefTables in FDP is presented. The vertices?displacements affected by FAP can be calculated by this method. Using this technique, realistic facial animation can be generated.
