NoC: Next Generation Mainstream Architecture for Integrated Circuits
Gao Minglun, Du Gaoming · 2006
SoC(System-on-a-Chip),the current mainstream architecture for integrated circuits,is defined as a digital computer implemented in a single chip, which consists of one processor with bus and peripherals,as well as an operating system, while NoC(Network on Chip)can be defined as a multi-processor system, which includes a packed routing network for on-chip communication.Reasons why NoC will become the next generation of mainstream architecture for integrated circuits are analyzed.
