Design and implementation of GPS data acquisition system based on FPGA

For the problem of NMEA-0183 protocol parsing in the vehicle and airborne navigation system,an GPS navigation system data paring scheme based on Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) is presented.The design based on the data format of NMEA-0183 judges message header,stationary state,parity and stop bits.It extracts the navigation data until it achieves the correct resolution according to the comma counter value.It uses Verilog HDL hardware description language to complete the code design and generates the hardware circuit in FPGA.The simulation and hardware testing results show that the proposed design is simple and flexible,and can be easily extracted the location in the navigation system information.
