Establishing sustainable management system for diseases of pasture crops in China

A proposal for establishing sustainable management system for pasture crop diseases was suggested based on the author’s experience in pasture plant pathology and the world trend in social and technical dvelopment. Taking computer and information technology, molecular biotechnology, economics and social science as it′s technical support, the system emphasizes utilization of disease resistant cultivars and application of sound sustainable field management, whereas chemical control and biological control are in a minor position within the system. The ultimate goal of the system is to bring the disease under the economic threshold level, to increase productivity and to maintain the stability of grassland farming system.
