Performance optimizing technologies for ORACLE database server
Meng Fan-mi · 2005
The optimization for ORACLE database is a procedure to improve its performance by means of reasonable allocating of computer resources(such as memory,CPUs,and disks),and tuning the runtime parameters of the system. It includes adjusting the parameters related to CPUs,the memory configuration of the server, the hard disk′s I/O and the operating system′s parameters.Whenever the using rate of CPUs is abnormal, the causes are to be found out as quickly as possible, and the system parameters should be adjusted promptly or SQL statements should be optimized. The memory parameter tuning involves the configuration of database buffer, data dictionary buffer and cache. The main reasons affecting the performance of disk I/O are disk competition, too frequent I/O and the configuration and management of data blocks.Making all available disks equally balance I/O may reduce the disk access time. The operating system configuration should make the resources used by ORACLE server maximum as far as possible.Theses principles applied to the ″three currents combination″ project of Shengli oilfield make the server well satisfy the performance requirement.
