A Gesture Simulation Language.

Richard Watson · 1993

More than we are aware, hand gestures are used to convey meaning. It is this intuitive approach to communication that the GLAD-IN-ART project takes as basis for new human-machine intervention technologies. Funded by ESPRIT II, the project''s goal is a system where manipulation performed by the human hand is replicated in 3D computer world model. Central to the project are systems designed to record both the pose and configuration of angles of the user''s hand, information that then may be used to identify intuitive gestures. This report describes a gesture simulation system that can replace the pose and joint angle tracking the sub-systems. Gesture description is facilitated by a language developed of this purpose.
