Automatic Outer Lip Contour Extraction in Facial Images

In this paper a new method for outer lip contour approximation in facial images is presented. The method is inspired in the Jumping Snakes (1,2), improving the later in terms of snake final position refinement. This new method is aimed to generate an approximated outer lip contour that properly encloses the whole of the mouth region present in the image. The problem of automatic parameter selection and seed positioning is also tackled.
