A Step-Invariant Design Method for Highpass Digital Filters

A method of designing highpass digital filters to yield a frequency-domain representation is presented using a step-invariant technique. A critical comparison is made between the step-invariant design method and the well known bilinear z-transform approach. It is shown that a practical digital phase-advance network may be realised using the step-invariant method.
