A collision detection algorithm based on hybrid bounding volume hierarchy was proposed using k-DOPs and sphere between complex objects. Collision detection algorithm based on sphere can quickly exclude the impossible collision objects, and it is not necessary to update the bounding sphere when object rotates, the calculation of k-DOPs is relatively complex, but can be detected accurately whether the two object intersect. This algorithm combines the characteristics of the two can accurately detect whether objects intersect after the rapid elimination of impossible collision objects. The experimental results show that this algorithm can well be used in the collision detection between complex objects, it has very good practicality.
