Since better cooperation among actors can balance energy consumption and improve the real‐time performance in wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs), it is tremendously challenging to detect the best cooperating team of actors in WSANs. In this study, a game theoretic method called coalition game is introduced into the authors’ model named cooperative‐game‐based actor‐to‐actor coordination algorithm. It is a multi‐player strategy game consisting of actors. The game performs at each time when an action must be executed in an event area. So the task allocation problem in WSANs is converted into the utility assignment in the actor‐alliance. The proposed model implements the effective executions of tasks by organising the best cooperating work team among actors through a game theory strategy. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, it is simulated using NS‐2 simulator. Then, it is subsequently compared against other existing applicable approaches such as real‐time task mapping and scheduling and distributed actor recovery algorithm algorithms, in terms of real‐time performance, energy consumption and network lifetime, to demonstrate its efficiency and viability. Finally, the simulation results show a better improvement than existing above‐mentioned methods.
