Feedback Fusion for LFNCR in Wireless Broadcasting With Massive Receivers

Jian Wang, Youyun Xu, Dongmei Zhang, Kui Xu · IEEE Communications Letters · 2016

This letter proposes a novel feedback mechanism i.e., feedback fusion, for limited feedback based network coding retransmission (LFNCR) scheme in wireless broadcasting with massive receivers. With feedback fusion, each receiver transmits feedback message upon one of the limited number of feedback time slots. When multiple receivers happen to transmit feedback messages in a same time slot, packets collision occur. Instead of scheduling feedback retransmission, packets collision is regarded as feedback fusion and average signal strength of each time slot is detected to facilitate retransmission packets design. Simulation results show that LFNCR with feedback fusion only requires very few channel occupation and significant robustness could be achieved under imperfect feedback condition.
