Graph Cut Based Segmentation of Brain Tumor From MRI Images

Victor Chen, Su Ruan, Iut de Troyes · 2009

In this paper, the image segmentation is considered as a graph partition problem and global criterion which measures both the total dissimilarity among the different groups and the total similarity inside them is proposed. An efficient method based on a generalized eigenvalue treatment is used to optimize this criterion in order to segment images. The method is applied to segment brain tumors from MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) images, then providing automatically the information about tumor for helping the diagnostic. The results obtained by the proposed method are encouraging.
