Police in Emergency Management: Diverse Roles Involving Inter-organisational Relationships

Police services are different from other services during emergencies, where they are expected to show the leadership by providing rescue and resolution capability in high risk situations and developing integrated emergency management procedures with other emergency services. Any disaster management requires multi-organisational response to re-establish the social equilibrium, which even applies to police service, where they have to recognise and support a multi-agency approach to ensure co-ordination, appreciation of organisational roles and achievement of objectives established in emergency incident.
