Implementation of an interactive web application using FOSS, a participant-oriented evaluation study

Cecil Schmidt, Justin Higgins, Lance Gliser · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2007

In the paper we describe a study that we undertook to determine the issues that arise in using free open source software in the implementation of an interactive web application. We report on the software products used, the freely-available online resources, and our positive and negative experiences. Our findings suggest that there a predominate number of negative issues that should be understood before making the decision to embrace the use of free open source software.
