The efficacy of a store-and-forward file transfer system

Edward Richard Sadowski · cIRcle (University of British Columbia) · 2010

Most existing File Transfer Systems are connection-based, where the actual transfer of a file immediately follows the transfer's specification. Few systems allow Three-Party Transfers, where a person on one computer can request the transfer of a file residing on a second computer to a third computer. A Store-and-Forward File Transfer System separates the specification and transmission phases of a file transfer. A Store-and-Forward File Transfer System has been designed and implemented using as its medium of transmission a Computer Based Message System based on the current CCITT proposal. This File Transfer System allows genuine Three-Party Transfers. Results indicate that such a system is both feasible and practical.
