Copyright and Computers the Use of Machine-Readable Databases

The author reviews the implications of current concepts of copyright and new developments in technology as they impinge on database access, and the storage, re-use and possible reformatting of data obtained from online sources. She suggests that copyright law may be replaced by contract law as database proprietors perceive that ‘as has been the case with photocopying, the problem is essentially one of technology outpacing the law’.
