The explosive growth of the internet has resulted the increasing diversity and heterogeneity in term of terminal capability, network bandwidth, user preference, and internet data. Current now, most of the internet data is not suitable for handheld device directly, such as image, audio, video. To date, the majority of research on Wap customizing is user oriented, focusing on user interest analysis. Relatively minor attention has been paid to user data adapting itself. In order to make the data display better in different terminals, in this paper, a novel data self-adaptive approach in wireless environment is put forward, and multi-terminal based data self-adaptive system (MDSS) is employed to adjust the data that can have a good network quality of service (Qos) and compatibility. To assess the proposed approach, a Web browser, two mobile phone simulators and a real mobile phone are used to represent the Wap environment and a series of experiments are conducted. The experimental studies have concentrated on how to make the user data adaptive to terminals and network Qos well. The results and analysis show that with MDSS the data self-adaptive approach in Wap environment can be successfully performed.
