This paper proposes a novel autoniatic frequency control (AFC) nietllod using tlle Wavelet Transforni (WT) for persoiial ~ i i o l d e sat,ellite comnlunications systems with large Doppler frequency shift and its fast variation. The Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is suitable for the spectrnnl analysis algoritllnl in tlle AFC loop, and the BWT AFC makes it possible t o achieve bot,li fast initial accluisitio~l and accurate tracking. Furt,liermore, the D WT AFC can make t,he frequency error arbitrarily sniall ; the longer i t operates, the smaller the frequency error becomes.
