Network Security and SLE / IP-Internetworking for Inter-Agency Cooperation
Manfred Bertelsmeier · Space OPS 2004 Conference · 2004
Ground communications used to support space mission operations have been increasingly migrated to the Internet Protocol (IP) and the corresponding Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure platforms [1, 2]. Such migration had been driven by the marketplace for competitive ICT products and services, and is complete or nearing completion in most space flight organizations. Another driver towards IP networking for space mission operations has been the decision to standardize an IP transport layer to support the Space Link Extension (SLE) protocol.
