A control system for stabilizing the image in camcorders has been developed. Optimization of the control system through computer simulation maximized the effect of compensating for image fluctuations, resulting in a high image-stabilization rate (-37dB). The results of computer simulation were consistent with those of experiments using trial models, resulting in reduced development time. Establishment of this simulation technology has made it easier to adjust the image-stabilization characteristics. The load placed on the control microprocessor was reduced by reducing the drive frequency of the image-stabilization lens. As a result, camera control and the image-stabilization process are both implemented in a one-chip microprocessor, which prevents enlargement of the control circuit.
