CONFIGURING THE USER -- THE CASE OF GRID COMPUTING.

Claus D. Jacobs, Chris Steyaert · Academy of Management Proceedings · 2007

This article presents research pertaining to organization studies. The article discusses a semiotic study which illustrates how technology users can become constructed from competing discourses. The authors base their argument with the empirical case of grid computing which allows the authors to observe how different versions of users are negotiated and written in the recursive development of communities of users and technology. An overview of the field research and analytical strategy is provided. Implications for future research are discussed.
