A Supply Chain Architecture Based on Ontology for Distributed Simulation and Modeling

Jie Lin, Gang Wang, Zhijuan Hu -, Qingqi Long · International Journal of Digital Content Technology and its Applications · 2012

Multi-level supply chain or network structure supply chain is becoming more complex. As a result, the techniques of distributed simulation and modeling on the supply chain will affect the following areas: domain knowledge expression, the semantics of knowledge reasoning, verification of the consistency, sharing and operating modules, and the facilitation of the computer to help realize goals. To resolve these problems, we propose an ontology-based framework. This methodological framework is structured according to four main abstraction levels: a supply chain level, an enterprise level, a process element level and a process activity level. We demonstrate the usage of the suggested framework with ontology software. The outcome is a formal way to pave the path from conceptual to running models which is sketched in this paper. The achievements and the perspectives are discussed in the conclusion.
