In a world of increasingly sophisticated, stealthy and shape-shifting malware, behavioural analysis techniques have become a critical component of all the major security vendors' solutions. Few have the audacity to claim they are a panacea for zero-day threats, but most are adamant that in combination with other security layers and techniques – such as signature-based AV, firewalling, blacklisting and whitelisting – they can significantly reduce the potential for damaging breaches to occur.
