MICROSPECTROPHOTOMETRIC STUDIES ON DESOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID OF AN INDIVIDUAL NUCLEUS IN THE OX RETINA

Masao Yoshida · The Japanese Journal of Physiology · 1958

The chemical difference in the nuclei distributed in three nuclear layers was estimated by the microspectrophotometric method on the basis of the DNA content of an individual nucleus. The specificities in the extinctions were observed in the receptor nuclei, which showed the highest value compared to that of others. In order to obtain the relative content of DNA in the irregular nucleus containing a dense chromatin, the integral formula was applied. The constancy relation of the DNA content seemed to exist in the nuclei distributed in the identical nuclear layer.
