On the Equivalence of Weighted Metrics for Distance Measures between Two Rankings

Jianwen Chen · Journal of Information and Computational Science · 2014

Weighted metrics for measuring the distance between two rankings, which extend the classic metrics to evaluate more highly the position changes at the top places than the bottom places, have many applications in the information retrieval eld and database eld. In this paper, we establish the equivalence relationship of the weighted intersection metric and the weighted Spearman’s footrule metric. We further improve one of the constants in the weighted Diaconis-Graham Inequality to match that in the classic Diaconis-Graham Inequality.
