Generic Teamwork

Mark A. Krueger · Residential Treatment for Children & Youth · 1995

In 1983, a social worker, a teacher, and five child and youth care workers were hired into the same discipline, youth development generalist, to work as members of a new transdisciplinary team approach to residential treatment called Generic Teamwork. They were paid the same for their prior experience and education, trained together, and encouraged to cross into each others' domains to help one another integrate as much care, learning, and counseling as possible into their daily interactions with the children and their families. After analyzing and comparing he results to traditional interdisciplinary teamwork over a ten-year period, Generic Teamwork was found to improve the quantity and quality of residential services.
