The Common Mission Automation Services Interface

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has developed a cross-platform language used by simulations, ground control stations, and UAV automation software in order to represent UAV missions and subsequently command UAV teams to prosecute those missions. The Common Mission Automation Services Interface (CMASI) allows common exchange of relevant mission data between software components. Similar to other interface description languages, CMASI uses a binary protocol to serialize pre-defined packets of information. The packet can be shared between software components and de-serialized to read and interpret the contained information. The protocol is supported in multiple computer languages and permits seamless data sharing between components on the same computer or over an IP network.
