Leakage of personal information is becoming increasingly prevalent in the flood of information and communication available today. In the present study, a survey was conducted on the relationship between personal information and password use among middle and high school students, and problems illuminated by this investigation were discussed. According to the survey, middle and high school students had 3.3 passwords per person on average, with about 70% of these passwords being consistent with personal information; about 40% of all passwords were similar to their respective IDs. Online information protection education at schools, however, is superficial; the results of the present study call for improvements.
