Biometrics Based Identification and Authentication in Aerospace Applications
Sam B. Adhikari, Nancy Wheeler · 52nd Aerospace Sciences Meeting · 2014
In this paper we focus on cyber secured identification and authentication systems developed with intelligence and informatics driven biometrics applications. Biometric access controls are some of the best means of authenticating a user's identity based on a unique, measurable attribute or trait for verifying the identity of a human being. This control restricts computer access based on a physical (something you are) or behavioral (something you do) characteristic of the user. Traditionally, biometric systems have been used very little as an access control technique. However, due to advances in hardware efficiencies and storage, biometric systems have become a more viable option as an access control mechanism.
