Dynamic statics — A practical symbiosis of velocity-statics duality
Alexander Zhukov, Tagir Galikeev, I. Korotkov · 2011
Seismic statics problem, in the case of a complex near surface, is seldom resolved on an early stage of sequential processing and is attempted to be compensated for with velocity manipulation, imaging techniques and cosmetic algorithms later in the processing flow. This approach often leads to the wrong representation of geology, erroneous velocity field and distorted interpretation. Accurately resolved statics at appropriate processing stage minimizes velocity errors, reduces overall processing cycle time and results in a more realistic seismic image, which translates into a more reliable and unambiguous interpretation. We have developed a continuous statics/velocity analysis based on the interactive statics technology, which allows for fast and reliable static time shifts and velocity decoupling.
