CatMDEdit is a metadata editor tool that facilitates the management of resources through their metadata, paying special atten- tion to geographic information resources. The objective is to promote the metadata creation as an instrument that facilitates the processing of data in an eective way. Therefore, important eorts have been made towards the integration of CatMDEdit with GIS tools. This work presents the mechanism for connecting CatMDEdit with gvSIG for the manipulation of geographic information. Once the metadata of a resource are generated (by hand or via existent semi-automatic mechanisms for some GI specific formats), CatMDEdit autogenerates a gvSIG project and invokes gvSIG to have access to the resource with the adequate parameters.
