Study of the Approach Vehicle Detection by the Supersonic Wave

We can prevent a traffic accident by unexpected jumping out if perceive the approach vehicle in the walking traffic accident of the elderly person at an early stage. In this paper,, using a supersonic wave loudspeaker attached to a vehicle, we examined the technique to detect approaching vehicle in the walker side. We found that detect the around 50m with high probability of more than 80% by using a tone burst as input to a supersonic wave speaker. We are going to perform the evaluation on various conditions in future.
