The overall goal of this project is to evaluate the potential of extremely fast hardware architectures for image processing. Primary focus is upon realizations of the Radon transform and backprojection because of their applicability to computed tomography. In this report, we discuss our results thus far in the design, simulation, and realization of a radon transform and backprojection multiprocessor board, and a unified Radon transform and backprojection VLSI chip architecture.
