Software Programs for Literary Analysis

Estelle Irizarry · Hispania · 1989

A powerful, complex program with clear, attractive menus, WordCruncher provides many ways to index, manipulate, and retrieve text for literary study. It consists of two parts, IndexETC, which automatically inserts reference code numbers in the text and creates indexed word lists, and ViewETC, which manipulates the indexed data. To take full advantage of the potential of WordCruncher, users should become familiar with the assignment of its function keys (for which a template is provided), with file extension abbreviations, and with the combination of the various keys it uses to carry out different operations. The software comes on five 51/4 diskettes. The operating system must be DOS, preferably 3.2, and recommended requirements are 640K of available memory and a hard disk drive.
