Coda Finale Version 2.0 for Apple Macintosh Computers
Alan Belkin · Computer Music Journal · 1990
When Finale first appeared in 1988, it was hailed by some as the most sophisticated music software ever created. However, problems soon emerged: many bugs, a confusing interface, and poor documentation. Version 2, released in the fall of 1989, has an improved, menu-driven interface and revised documentation, as well as new features, making editing and page layout more efficient. While still not bugfree, Finale is currently the only program available commercially that allows real-time transcription of complex music that can also produce engraved quality scores, if the user is willing to put in the time required.
