The electrical double layer at the interface between the hot wire and the electrolytic solution has an electrostatic capacity to sink part of input current. The value of capacitance around the hot wire was decided from the value of transient currents observed between a couple of Pt electrodes dipped in some sorts of electrolytic solutions. By using these values, the behaviour and the amount of leakage from the hot wire were estimated; the faster damps the leakage for the more conductive solution, and the smaller amount for the less conductive solutions, It is found that the leakage is so small part of input current that the transient hot wire method for electrolytic solutions works satisfactorily.
