Improvements in the Performance of the Thermal Conductivity Detector
R. B. DeLew · Journal of Chromatographic Science · 1972
The effect of replacing the common constant voltage source, used to power the thermal conductivity detector, with a constant current source to increase detector linearity is examined. Also investigated is the effect of electrical balancing and filament matching on detector stability. To improve the detectivity of the TCD two methods are proposed. The successful results compare within a factor of 100 to the chromatographic performance of the flame ionization detector.
