RGB plotting technique and its application in thin bed characterization

Spectral decomposition has been well used to study the reservoir characterization of thin beds. While the interpreters have much more interpretation work due to many different single spectral components would be obtained by spectral decomposition. Plotting three spectral components by RGB display technique provides moderate details of the full amplitude spectrum and improves the efficiency of interpretation, consequently decreases the interpretation workload. In addition, stratal slice technique has been proved to be an effect approach of thin beds characterization. While due to the fast lateral variation of thin beds, the full extent of a depositional system would not be displayed even in the stratal slices. Fortunately, with spectral attributes RGB display method we can partially avoid the problem of slices generation.
