ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF STRESS ROUND AN ELLIPTIC TUNNEL WITH LINING

Eiichi Oda · Transactions of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers · 1955

When an elliptic tunnel with lining is located at a large but finite depth underneath the horizontal ground surface and the surrounding material is assumed to be elastic, isotropic and homogeneous; gravitational stresses around this tunnel opening are determined by means of Muschelišvilis' complex variable method for solving two-dimensional elasticity problems.
