'Futurama' and advanced mathematics
David Crewe · Screen education · 2015
'Futurama' is an American animated science fiction comedy developed by David X Cohen and 'The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening. The show aired from 1999 to 2003 on Fox, before returning as a series of feature films in 2007 to 2009 and, subsequently, another run of episodes on Comedy Central from 2010 to 2013. Set a thousand years in the future, 'Futurama' follows the adventures of Philip J Fry, a pizza delivery boy from the year 2000 who's accidentally cryogenically frozen, and his friends and colleagues at Planet Express (an intergalactic delivery service). 'Futurama' combines fanciful sci-fi tropes with clever humour and social satire, and has earned both widespread critical acclaim and a fervent fan base.
